As of January 2021, we plan on holding our Summer Program in-person and on campus. We have had all of our students back on campus since September following strict health and safety guidelines. You can read more about how we reopened Eagle Hill in the fall here.

A brief overview of our Summer Programs

Eagle Hill's Summer Academic Program is an extension of the philosophy and strategies for learning that we use throughout the regular school year. During the four weeks your student is in our Summer Program, they get the full Eagle Hill experience - just without homework! The Summer Academic Program immerses each child in a language-focused environment tailored to meet his or her learning needs. Our class sizes are small, organized by skill-level and not by grade, and classes are taught primarily by our Eagle Hill School faculty – experts in the field of special education.

Eagle Hill's Summer Academic Program is open to students who have a language-based learning disability (such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, or ADHD) or who need additional learning support/remediation to reinforce skills for September.

OUR PROGRAMS FOR SUMMER 2021:

Foundations Program (for rising kindergarteners –
rising second graders)
M–Th: 8 a.m.–2:30 p.m., F: 8 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

The Summer Foundations Program is designed to help young students develop and solidify the early learning skills they need to be successful in the classroom. Teachers provide individualized instruction to develop core academic skills as well as foster social and emotional growth.

Academic Program (for rising third graders –
rising ninth graders)
8 a.m.–1 p.m.

The Summer Academic Program has an intense schedule of academic instruction based on the individual needs of each student. The Program includes daily instruction in reading tutorial, writing, math, and study skills. Class sizes are small and students are grouped according to their academic strengths and weaknesses rather than grade level. A parent interview, additional supporting documents, and a pre-program assessment of student skills allows our team to place each student in classes that will ensure optimal learning.

Afternoon Activities Program (for students enrolled
in the Academic Program)
1–3:30 p.m.

The Afternoon Activities Program immerses students in a fun midday program where group work, social skills, and fair play are emphasized and reinforced. Students are encouraged to try new things and actively participate in a variety of activities while fostering positive relationships with their peers. Like the Academic Program, this Program is staffed primarily by Eagle Hill faculty.

Social Skills Program (for students enrolled in the
Academic Program)
T/Th 1–2 p.m. or 2–3 p.m.

Eagle Hill teachers and staff provide explicit instruction in social and emotional language concepts, and help students develop their social thinking and associated social skills. Discussion and social interaction activities help students learn how to use pragmatic language successfully, recognize the skills and expectations necessary to be a positive member of a group, and initiate and sustain peer relationships.
